Causes of Dizziness

Dizziness can be caused by many different ailments, some of which are listed below. If you feel you may be suffering from any of the conditions listed below, please call our office and schedule an appointment immediately.

Basilar Artery Migraine

A common cause of vertigo, dizziness that occurs when the blood supply to the inner ear is reduced by a spasm of the artery leading to the ear.

Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo

The most common cause of dizziness, this problem is caused when small debris in the inner ear is dislodged and floats into the semicircular canal.

Ménière's Disease

This is a severe form of vertigo caused by an increase in fluid pressure in the inner ear.


A small hole in the membrane of the inner ear resulting in fluid leakage into the middle ear.


The medical term for innear ear inflammation or infection, Labyrinthitis occurs without warning and is accompanied by severe vertigo that lasts for a few days.

Vestibular Neuritis

Vestibular Neuronitis causes dizziness due to a viral infection of the vestibular nerve.
